Impis vs. Rams

(Makerere Rugby Grounds)

The 13th week of the rugby premiership looks to be a cracker at all of the venues, save for Warriors which will not be able to play due to the suspension of Gulu Elephants. Every team is in defense mode for their position on the table. Any point gained or lost in these next few weeks is very important. But even more interestingly, the home turf is going to suffer as teams that call the same place home are going to battle on their own turf. Kyadondo Rugby is going to have a very big show and Legends Rugby too will have an exceptional game. This week is bound to be even more epic than the last. The power of home advantage will be exhibited out on the fields this week. Well here are the games for this weekend.

Shell Rimula Rhinos vs Betway KOBS; We cant talk about this game without acknowledging that Rhinos beat the KOBS in the first leg by 34 points to 20. As much as usually KOBS would come in as favorites, after the last result if there is anything we learned from the first leg, its that the results for this game are really up in the air. Its going to take impressive leadership and team work from both teams if either of them want to win this game come this Saturday at Legends. Both Rhinos and KOBS won their last games against Mongers and Rams respectively which gives both sides a high tempo goign into their game this weekend. But more importantly both teams have home advantage. Areas for massive battle will be in the forward were Rhinos looks to be superior but could be tamed with the right strategy. However the KOBS as well have a very impressive and dependable back line.

Individuals to watch - Scot Olouch 300, who is with no doubt going to give KOBS backline hell, Jasper Ochan, David Semwami aka Muscle, this guy is swift as well which is something to watch out for and James Musiitwa. KOBS on the other hand have their king pin Brian Odongo, killer tackler Brian Asaba, Ogwal and Ramathan Goville who are likely to cause more damage in the forwards and James Ijagot, Micheal Omolo and Emmanuel Echodu will roll over the opponents. Man of the match from the last match Dr. Tony Lugya aka Stone is likely to come off the bench to inflict more pain to Rhinos but who knows he might have to come save the game if the Rhinos take the KOBS for a ride. if there is a game to watch this season for Legends Rugby FANS, this is the best choice. Its going to be epic to say the least. May the best team win.

Toyota Buffaloes vs Hima Cement Heathens;  It is time for the Kyadondo derby between Hima Cement Heathens and Toyota Buffaloes. Buffaloes are looking to cause havoc at Kyadondo come this Saturday however they should remember that the one thing about Heathens is they have had their play in order from the very first game they played this season. They have extreme focus and unlike other teams they are not affected by the super star syndrome. They thrive on having a team of very focused and dedicated guys that do not give up on their team. Because of this they do not have to depend on a few star players but on their ability to work as a team that is very much in sync. This Saturday the Buffaloes will try to monopolize on the absence of the key players Phillip Wokorach who is on loan to Kabras in Kenya and Micheal Wokorach who is ruled out for the next 4 weeks due to health issues. But i highly doubt that will be enough to bring the Heathens down. The buffaloes have their players from the national 7s team back, they should use that to their advantage but most importantly they should use their power to upset the table leader at home to their advantage. They are at home, there is no excuse as to why Buffaloes will not give Heathens a real run for their money. Heathens are really going to have to earn that win against Buffaloes.

Heathens will rely on the service of Lawrence Sebuliba, Chris Lubaga aka Opa, Steven Mose and Brian Kikawa. And the Buffaloes will rely on Kevin Keremundu, Pius Ogena and Maside Robert. It looks to be an action packed game. Die hard Kyadondo Rugby Fans come out and support rugby. Two home teams are going to face off and you don't want to miss out on this.

Sadolin Mongers vs Black Pirates;  At the house of pain in Entebbe, it is going to be a game of redemption. Both teams lost last week however they don't want to be in the positions they finished last year. Pirates is not letting second position go tot KOBS and Mongers is chasing after Buffaloes for fifth place on the table. So going into this game, both teams will want to prove a point and redeem themselves before the last whistle. Mongers being at home are likely to cause more pain at the house of pain as their playing ground is known among rugby lovers. But we can't ignore the great for the Pirates team is in. The pain might be inflicted by the bandits of the sea.

Individuals to watch - Forwards Elijah Kitoke Captain, John Wandicho, Richard Bira, Baseka, Ronald Adigasi and  Paul Sekate. Adrian Wasswa will be the king pin in their back line. Pirates will have Marvin Odongo who unleashed beast mode on one of the buffaloes players last week so they have to watch out for him for sure especially because he is coming off a loss, Ivan Magomu is always a threat and Conrad Wanyama. We wish them all the best. Go out and watch this game that will be a show of exceptional rugby for sure.

Impis vs. Rams; Another derby will take place at Makerere University as Impis takes on Rams. It is only till this year that Rams managed to win against Impis in the first leg and this was due to the closure of the University as most of the players were away. Come Saturday, the billing is up there as Rams have promised to repeat what happened in the first round. If Impis uses its pack well, they are likely to cause more damage against Rams. But the hugest factor in this game is fighting religation. This is going to be even more fuel for an exhibiton of great Rugby. Key players to watch from Impis - Zeus Missaga, Kaboge, PJ Egdar, Amos and Anto Musemeta. Backline players Henry Nsekuye, Arnold Semwogere and Oketayot. Rams-Richard Lumu is the key player in Rams. Campusers you guys are looking for  a place to release stress during this tense exam period go out and watch your teams face each other.

At 256, we say May the best teams win!
